3 Surprising Things Your Marketing Might Need this Quarter
Somehow, there are only eight and a half weeks left in 2023. Here are three (potentially surprising) things your marketing might need for the final stretch of the year.
Focus
There are so many hours in the day and only a couple of months left in this year. Prioritize and be realistic about what can be accomplished before the end of 2023.
Finding focus with your marketing efforts:
Prioritize campaigns and tactics that are most likely to get results for your business. This seems obvious but it’s easy to get distracted. There are always new channels and tactics and technologies to try - it’s easy to get sucked into what we think we should be doing vs. what matters. The two best tools to decide what will be most impactful for your business this quarter are historical data and your instincts.
Get organized. Use Asana, Notion, or your tool of choice to plan out projects and deliverables for the next couple of months. Set deadlines and be realistic. Also, use time boxing. Mark off your calendar for focus time, deep work time, or strategic planning. Use a pomodoro timer (I use the Be Focused app for Mac).
Delegate, share responsibilities - and possibly find extra help.
Fun
The end of the year is a festive time and an opportunity to have fun with your marketing.
Fun ideas for this quarter:
Giveaways - this could be a contest, or offering a gift to clients or prospects. There are so many fun gifting platforms these days (Alyce, Sendoso) - you can also include an option for clients or prospects to donate to a charity or non-profit.
Lighten up - it’s been a heavy few years, and the economic outlook for the rest of this year is ambiguous at best. It’s always ideal to inject more humanity into your marketing, and the holidays are a fun time to do so.
Giving Tuesday - possibly lesser known than Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but save some energy (and maybe some dollars) for Giving Tuesday on Nov. 28. It’s a good time to do a campaign around a cause your company or team cares about.
Events - it’s an apt time of year to get together for client and/or employee appreciation events. Referrals are still a top source of new business opportunities, so spending time nurturing internal and external relationships is both good for business and fun.
Momentum
Whatever you do, do something. This quarter is not only about end-of-year results, it’s also important for building momentum into the new year. Plan ahead and with 2024 goals in mind, what is something you can do now to support those objectives?
